Panthers C Nick Bjugstad to Play For Team USA At 2013 World Championship

SUNRISE, Fla. – USA Hockey announced today that Florida Panthers C Nick Bjugstad has been selected to play for the 2013 U.S. Men’s National Team at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Men’s Championship, May 3-19 in Stockholm, Sweden and Helsinki, Finland.
Bjugstad, 20, has played in nine games for Florida this season, after completing his junior season at the University of Minnesota. Bjugstad led Minnesota to the NCAA West Regionals this year, scoring 21 goals with 15 assists in 40 games played for the Gophers. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound center completed his collegiate career appearing in 109 games scoring 54 goals with 44 assists, earning three consecutive trips to the NCAA tournament.
On the international level, Bjugstad earned a Bronze medal at the 2011 World Junior Championship (WJC), recording four points (2-2-4) in six games. He also appeared in the 2012 WJC scoring four goals with two assists. The Minneapolis, Minnesota native was selected in the first round (19th overall) by Florida in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
The 2013 U.S. Men’s National Team is under the direction of the U.S. Men’s National Team Advisory Group which includes Florida Panthers Executive VP/General Manager Dale Tallon. In addition, Florida Panthers Head Athletic Trainer Dave Zenobi will serve on Team USA’s support staff.
