5 Things To Watch: Jan. 6 at Montreal

Whether you're going to the game or if you can't make it and are catching the game on FOX Sports Florida or 560 WQAM, here are the five things to look for in tonight's matchup against Montreal.

STREAKING SASHA: The 18-year old young gun has been one of the Cats best two-way forwards from the very first game and now he's leading the way offensively. Thanks to his two assists against Nasvhille, Barkov now leads the Cats with 21 points (7-14-21) and is sixth among all NHL rookies in the points race. The center is currently on a five-game point streak (1-5-6), tied with Radek Dvorak for the second longest rookie point streak in franchise history, one behind Jesse Belanger's six games. The Finn also has posted 11 points in his last 11 games.

HUBY'S HOME: There should be a lot of Panthers No. 11 jerseys in the crowd at the Bell Centre tonight, all in support of reigning Calder trophy winner Jonathan Huberdeau. This will be the second time of his career playing "at home." Growing up in St. Jerome, Quebec, about an hour away from Montreal, Huberdeau missed the first game of the season at the Bell Centre. Huberdeau got on the score sheet in a big way last game, picking up his first multi-assist game of the year in helping Florida pick up a 5-4 victory over Nashville. FOX Sports Florida will have an one-on-one interview with Huberdeau during the first intermission so don't miss it.

TROIS-A-ZERO: Not a lot of teams have had success against one of the league's original teams but the Panthers have over their 20-year history. They are 36-26-6-8 in that span and that includes going 2-0 against the Habs so far this season. They won a 2-1 decision back on Dec. 15 in Montreal before following that up with a 4-1 victory on Dec. 29. They'll look to go 3-0 in the season series between the two Atlantic Division teams and win both games in Montreal for the fourth time in franchise history (1993-94, 2007-08, 2011-12).

JOVO COP PART DEUX: Finishing an impressive plus-3 on 15:54 of ice time in his season debut on Saturday against Nashville, Ed Jovanovski will look to keep the Cats undefeated this season with the captain in the lineup. Playing with Alex Petrovic against the Preds, the captain will be paired with another young gun along the blue line as defenseman Erik Gudbranson returns to the lineup after having orbital bone surgery. The blue liner will wear a cage after missing the last five games.

HOT PLAY: The Panthers have been great since the beginning of December. They've gone 9-5-1 since Dec. 3 including a five-game winning streak during that span. They have identical 6-3-1 records in both their last 10 games overall and last 10 games on the road. Those winning ways have been sparked by goaltending play of Scott Clemmensen and Tim Thomas as well as the Killer B line of Barkov, Sean Bergenheim and Brad Boyes. Barkov with his 11 points in 11 games while Bergenheim has five goals in his last five games and Boyes has six points in his last three games.
