5 Things To Watch: Jan. 11 at New Jersey

Whether you're going to the game or if you can't make it and are catching the game on FOX Sports Florida or 560 WQAM, here are the five things to look for in tonight's matchup against Buffalo.

PANTHERS (17-21-6) at DEVILS (18-18-9)
7:00 PM ET; TV: FOX Sports Network; RADIO: 560 AM
Last 10: Florida 5-4-1; New Jersey 4-3-3

BOYES IN THE HOOD: Winger Brad Boyes helped Florida skate off with the full two points in Buffalo Thursday night, tying the game in the third period with his team-leading 12th of the season and then winning it in the shootout. Boyes currently rides a season-high five-game point streak (3-4-7). His six shootout goals are tied for second in the NHL.

TOOL TIME: Netminder Tim Thomas has continued stellar play between the pipes for the Cats allowing more than two goals in just one of his last seven games while going 5-1-1 in that span. Timmy earned the win after stopping 23 of 24 shots in regulation and another three shooters in the shootout to even his record at 11-11-2 on the season and increase his save percentage to .914.

ONE-GOAL GAMES: Florida has certainly learned how to hold on in one-goal games since Peter Horachek took over. After back-to-back losses in Horachek's first three days at the helm, the Panthers have gone 8-3-2 since when it's come down to one goal on the scoreboard.

THE FLYING FINN: His six-game point streak may have been snapped on Thursday night but young gun Aleksander Barkov still has seven points in his last seven games (1-6-7). Barkov still leads the Cats in points with 22 but Boyes is one point behind the 18-year old.

THE DEVIL BACKSTOP: The Devils have NHL great Martin Brodeur still playing but it will be Corey Schneider who the Cats will see Saturday night. The Devil's netminder is coming off a 1-0 shutout in which he made 26 saves for his sixth win of the season. The shutout helped drop his GAA to just above two goals a game (2.02) and bumped his save percentage up to .918 on the season.
