COLUMBUS —  (NHL.com) - In a game full of special-teams goals, Artem Anisimov had the biggest one when his late second-period shorthanded goal lifted the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 6-3 victory against the Florida Panthers on Saturday afternoon to end a three-game winless streak.

Anisimov scored with 10 seconds left for a 4-3 lead after the Panthers twice rallied to tie. Nick Foligno and Matt Calvert scored empty-net goals to seal the win for the Blue Jackets (30-25-5).

FULL RECAP

"They beat us on special teams. We had a good fight back and it was a close one. We had our chances but we need a better start."

- Panthers forward Nick Bjugstad.

1. Another Slow Start: It's become an annoying habit for the Panthers. Similar to Thursday's game against Washington, the Cats found themselves trailing 2-0 early. In Columbus it was the Blue Jackets power play that got them the early lead. The first goal came 7:42 in as RJ Umberger scored on the rebound of James Wisniewski's shot. A little over three minutes later Cam Atkinson scored. The second goal especially hurt as the Panthers were one second away from getting Scott Gomez back.

2. Come Backs: The Cats have certainly been resilient this season. Trailing again, they came back to tie the game on two separate occasions thanks to hard work. First it was Shawn Matthias scoring as he stormed to the net to bring them to within 2-1 in the first. Then Nick Bjugstad scored and Sean Bergenheim netted second period goals on similar goals from close range. Bjugstad's tally came on a nice individual move while stationed in front of Sergey Bobrovsky, Bergenheim redirected Tom Gilbert's point shot past the netminder for a three all game.

3. Columbus Special: The big story of the game was that the Blue Jackets really won it thanks to the special teams. Not including two empty netters, the other four goals came with one of the team's on the power play. Columbus netted a third power play goal thanks to David Savard's point shot that fooled Scott Clemmensen. Florida would go on to tie the game but the game-winner was one that shouldn't have happened. The Cats got a late power play in the second but instead it was the Jackets cashing in with Artem Anisimov digging the puck out of the corner, skating to the front of the net and scoring on a great individual effort with 10 seconds remaining in the period. The Cats had some chances in the third but couldn't find the equalizer.

2. Centers Nick Bjugstad and Shawn Matthias had good offensive nights, picking up a goal and an assist each.

4. The Panthers picked up 26 hits on the night. They were led by Dylan Olsen and Sean Bergenheim who had four each.

10.
Florida was 10 seconds away from going into the second intermission tied at three but Artem Anisimov netted the game winner with only 10.2 left on the clock.

14. Bjugstad and later in the second period, Sean Bergenheim netted their 14th goals of the season. The duo are tied for second behind Brad Boyes' 17.

75. Columbus' power play gave the Panthers fits, scoring on 75% (3-of-4) of their man advantage chances.

David Savard
The Blue Jackets blueliner was solid all night, especially on the power play, setting one goal up and netting the Jackets' third.

1 Goal, 1 Assist, 2 Points, 2 Shots, 19:56 TOI

Florida is right back at it as they travel to Long Island to take on the NY Islanders. Both teams, in fact, will be on their second game in two days at the Islanders lost a 6-1 game to New Jersey on Saturday afternoon. They're without the services and leading point producer John Tavares who was injured during the Winter Games in Sochi. Missing his 66 points, the next highest skater is Kyle Okposo with 59 points in 60 games. Evgeni Naboko and Kevin Poulin have shared the duties between the pipes.
