About Last Night: Coyotes 3, Panthers 1
Brandon Pirri netted his first as a Panther but the Coyotes skated off with the victory.

COYOTES 3, PANTHERS 1
A lovely Sunday afternoon here inIn a classic battle of Cats vs. Dogs, it was the canines that came out on top. Last night, the Phoenix Coyotes came away with a 3-1 victory in a hard fought battle against the Florida Panthers at BB&T Center. Here is what you might have missed from last night:
New Panthers acquisition Brandon Pirri provided the offense tonight scoring his first goal of his Panthers’ career on a third period power play.
The goal was the first of many in a Panthers’ uniform for the talented 22-year-old center. The top corner cheddah is enough to whet the appetites of Panthers’ fans everywhere.
What did Twitter think about the goal?

Brandon Pirri's nickname is "Pirri Pirri Sauce" because he's awesome, a bit spicy and is great on chicken.— Mike Obrand (@MikeObrand) March 12, 2014
The Panthers and Coyotes rarely meet on the ice but there were a couple Panthers who were very familiar with last night’s opponent. Ed Jovanovski and Scottie Upshall have both donned the Coyote maroon in their careers. Jovo logged five seasons in Phoenix while Upshall played in parts of three years for the desert dogs.
Of course I am sure they would both agree that Panther Red is a definite upgrade… both places have warm climates but South Florida has the beach while Arizona just has a giant divot in the earth.
Checking in on the scoring race
With his assist on Pirri’s power play goal, Nick Bjugstad extended his point streak to three games (Mar.7-11: 0-3-3) bringing his point total on the year to 29 (14-15-29). The Panthers’ 21-year-old rookie is tied with Brad Boyes for second on the team in scoring as both players trail Scottie Upshall who leads the team with 31 points (11-20-31).
Here is an update on what should be a very exciting race down the stretch:

Man, we’ve got the funniest fans!
The Cats take to the road for a brief one day trip up to Tampa Bay to take on their cross-state rival on Thursday night. They will be right back in action on Friday when they return to take on the New Jersey Devils at BB&T Center.
