About Last Night: Canucks 4, Panthers 3 (SO)
Hayes nets two as Cats come back on two different occasions but fall to Canucks in shootout.
ABOUT LAST NIGHT is the morning-after recap of last night’s Florida Panthers game produced by “Hockey Pat” McGrath, a lifelong Cats fan who previously wrote for the Florida Panthers themed blog “TheRatTrick”. It is a followup to Hockey Pat’s hilariously informative gameday article: THE LOWDOWN.

CANUCKS 4, PANTHERS 3 (SO)
First and foremost, happy St. Patrick’s Day everybody! And while you are probably knee-deep in cabbage and car-bombs by this point, there was a hockey game held yesterday in South Florida so if you will indulge me for a couple of minutes we can talk a little puck….
Winning Can’t Cure Everything
Red Hot Hayes
With a pair of power play goals against Vancouver, Jimmy Hayes now has eight points (5-3-8) in his last eight games. The 6’6” winger has been a beast in front of the net on the Panthers power play, using his unique blend of size and skill to bother opposing goalies and to fire home loose pucks.
Forget Winners and Losers….I Want This Hat
Sometimes you need to be reminded about what really matters in life…. like awesome hats….and having pictures of yourself wearing awesome hats distributed across the internet…
Love the triple pump fake from Upshall here.
Robak getting straight up robbed!!
It's What You All Been Waiting For Ain't It
Roberto Luongo ‘Reunion Weekend’ started with a bang and ended with a bit of a fizzle, kind of like this year’s season of The Bachelor. Lu came out on top against former Vancouver teammate Cory Schneider as the Panthers skated to a 5-3 win against the New Jersey Devils on Friday night.
Sunday against Vancouver the big story was Luongo vs. Lack, so it was fitting that the battle would come down to a shootout duel between the two goalies. I half expected Luongo to rip off his helmet and shout at the crowd Maximus Meridius style:
But instead we just got a shootout and it was plenty entertaining.
I know the corned beef must be getting cold by now so I will be quick. With his wrap-around beauty in the second period, Vincent Trocheck scored his second goal in as many games. Quinton Howden assisted on the play so Q is now riding a three-game point streak (2-1-3). Brandon Pirri tallied two helpers yesterday which gives him five points (2-3-5) in his last four games and of course we have the aforementioned Hayes and his stretch of eight points (5-3-8) in his last eight games.
The Panthers head out west this week for a four game road trip against the Sharks, Coyotes, Kings and Ducks. The three Cali teams are all sitting high in the Western Conference playoff standings and the gang from Glendale, AZ are fighting for a spot, so the new-look Cats will have a chance to measure up against some pretty impressive squads. It should be worth staying up late for.
