About Last Night: Canadiens 4, Panthers 1
Boyes nets team-leading 19th of season as Cats fire 37 on Price but fall to Canadiens.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT is the morning-after recap of last night’s Florida Panthers game produced by “Hockey Pat” McGrath, a lifelong Cats fan who previously wrote for the Florida Panthers themed blog “TheRatTrick”. It is a followup to Hockey Pat’s hilariously informative gameday article: THE LOWDOWN.

The contents of ABOUT LAST NIGHT and all opinions expressed therein are solely those of Hockey Pat and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Florida Panthers or Sunrise Sports & Entertainment LLC. Having said that, if you find yourself laughing or smiling as you read ABOUT LAST NIGHT, feel free to thank us. We accept thank you notes, tweets and ticket purchases.

CANADIENS 4, PANTHERS 1

The Price was certainly right last night in South Florida as Montreal backstop Carey Price led the way in the Habs 4-1 victory over the Panthers. Despite outshooting the Canadiens 37-19, the Cats struggled to find twine as Price put his Olympic-caliber talent on full display. Brad Boyes was the only Panther to solve the puzzle, firing one top corner in the second period for his 19th of the season.

Here is what you may have missed from last night:

See! We’re all one big family in the Panthers twitter-verse.

Brad Boyes+Moller+Waffles=A good time

Wow, what a pretty snipe from Boyes for his team-leading 19th goal of the season. Let’s listen to what Randy Moller had to say.

YES!!! Shrek quotes!

Emptying the Clip

As any of millions of hockey fans around the world will tell you, sometimes there is nothing you can do when Price is in the net. Last night against the Panthers, the Canadian goaltender set the gold standard for excellence stopping 36 shots that were sent his way. The Panthers threw everything they had Price’s way but aside from Boyes’ snipe, they continuously had nothing to show for their efforts.

Welcome Back

There were a couple of ex-Panthers in the building last night suiting up for the rouge, blanc et bleu. Big George Parros, who played for the Cats last season, was welcomed back by a Krys Barch fist to the grill:

The other ex-Panther in the building was Mike Weaver who was traded to the Habs at this year’s trade deadline after four years with the Cats. Weaver’s scrappy style on defense and his willingness to take anyone on despites his diminutive stature was much appreciated in Sunrise and his return was greeted with nothing but love from the South Florida faithful.

In his first game back in Florida since the trade, Weaver tallied an assist while dishing out three hits and recording 19:04 TOI.

That’s Mike Weaver right?!! Well duh, he’s rocking his Cats jersey…

Up Next

The Panthers will hit the road for the final time this season. Florida will be in New Jersey on Monday before taking on the Islanders on Tuesday night. Following the two road games, the Cats will return to South Florida to close out the season with a five-game homestand.
