Florida Panthers To Host Military Appreciation Night On Friday, April 4
Veterans and active military personnel to be honored at Panthers-Flames game.

SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers will host a Military Appreciation Night on Friday, April 4, to honor veterans and active military personnel. The Panthers play the Calgary Flames at 7:30 p.m. at BB&T Center in Sunrise.

Military Appreciation Night initiatives and activities include: pre-game military-themed face painting, Humvees, a “GI Johnny” mascot, and promotional giveaways on the JetBlue Tarmac; a station where fans can write letters to troops stationed overseas and create their own posters; a ceremonial puck drop by Lieutenant Colonel Jose Valentin with puck delivery by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team; American anthem sung by Sergeant Mervin Leonor, and other military-themed in-game events and programming.

All military members and their dependents are eligible for a special “Buy One, Get One Free” ticket offer for the April 4 game with valid ID or DD214. Tickets are available through the BB&T Center box office and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Visit FloridaPanthers.com/Military for more information.

Panthers owner Vincent Viola graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1977, and later graduated from the U.S. Army Airborne, Infantry and Ranger Schools and served in the 101st Airborne Division. Shortly after September 11, 2001, Mr. Viola conceived, founded and funded the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point, now in its tenth year of operation.

“We are honored to salute members of the military and their families for their service to our country,” said Panthers CEO and President Rory Babich. “Supporting and honoring those who serve us is, and will continue to be, a priority for both the Florida Panthers organization and the Viola family. We are grateful for the sacrifices these men and women have made to protect us and our freedoms.”

Over the course of the season, the Panthers have created jobs for veterans, honored active and retired military personnel during home games with the Incapital “Heroes Among Us” program presented by Rick Case, recognized military and law enforcement organizations, donated tickets to various military organizations, and offered special rate tickets for veterans and active military personnel, which will continue through the end of this season.

Friday’s game kicks off a five-game Panthers homestand at BB&T Center, culminating with the April 12 season finale against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Home to the Florida Panthers Hockey Club and internationally recognized concerts and events, the Broward County-owned BB&T Center is one of the top ranked venues of its kind in the world.
