Florida Panthers Agree to One-Year Contract with F Jimmy Hayes

Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with F Jimmy Hayes.

“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Jimmy,” said Tallon. “We look forward to his continued contributions to our team both on and off the ice.”

Hayes, 24, has played in 96 career National Hockey League games with Florida (2013-2014) and Chicago (2011-2014), scoring 17 goals with 14 assists and 34 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-6, 221-pound forward was acquired by Florida from the Chicago Blackhawks on Nov. 14. Hayes scored 11 goals with seven assists in 53 games played with the Panthers last season.

The Dorchester, Massachusetts native played three years of college hockey at Boston College (2008-2011) registering 81 points (42-39-81) in 117 games played. Hayes won a NCAA Frozen Four Championship during his sophomore season. He also represented Team USA at the 2014 IIHF World Championships in Minsk, Belarus.

Hayes was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round (60th overall) in the 2008 NHL Draft.
