2006 - Florida Panthers head coach Jacques Martin posts the 450th win of his career, the 13th NHL coach to reach that mark.

1998 - Mark Parrish is named Rookie of the Month for October. The right wing scored six goals and added two assists to lead the Panthers and all NHL rookies in scoring.

Goaltender John Vanbiesbrouck is named to the USA Olympic Team for the 1998 Winter Games in Nagano, Japan.

2009 - Defenseman Bryan McCabe plays in his 1,000th NHL game against Washington.

2000 - The Panthers sign veteran left wing Greg Adams and trade defenseman Jaroslav Spacek to Chicago for Anders Eriksson, in a move designed to halt an early season slide.

2003 - General Manager Rick Dudley is named interim head coach of the Panthers, becoming the franchise's seventh head coach.

2003 - Scott Allen is named head coach of the San Antonio Rampage, becoming the third head coach in that team's history.

1995 - The Panthers beat the Maple Leafs 6-1 extending their franchise-record winning streak to seven games, a feat unmatched until 2006.

1999 - The Panthers sign unrestricted free agent forward Ray Sheppard, a playoff hero for Florida during the 1995-96 run to the Stanley Cup Finals. He is the second player in team history to return for a second tour of duty (Dallas Eakins is the first).

The Panthers conduct an official "ice-breaking" ceremony at the site of their new arena in Sunrise. The event is attended by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, in addition to club and local government officials.

Panthers Vice President and General Manager Bryan Murray sends goaltender Sean Burke and a fifth-round pick in the 2000 Entry Draft to Phoenix for goalie Mikhail Shtalenkov and the Coyotes’ fourth-round pick in 2000.

2001 - The Panthers beat the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, 6-0, tying the team record for largest margin of victory at home, achieved twice before.
