Orthopaedic Surgeon - UHZ Sports Medicine Institute
Dr. John Uribe is an Orthopaedic surgeon in Coral Gables, Florida. He received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic surgery at the University of Miami and subsequently a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Hughston Clinic. He came to Miami from the U.S. Army where he served as Lt. Colonel and Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center. Dr. Uribe is a professor and Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery at Florida International University School of Medicine and a team physician for the University of Miami Hurricanes, as well as a member of the UHZ SportsMedicine Institute. Dr. Keith Hechtman is a founding partner of UHZ Sports Medicine Institute and is board certified in both Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He practices at Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables, Florida. Additionally, Dr. Hechtman is an Associate Professor at the University of Miami, Department of Orthopedics, voluntary clinical associate professor U of Miami as well as a Clinical Adjunct associate Professor at the University of Miami, Department of Exercise Physiology & Sports Medicine and Professor in Orthopedics of Flordia International University School of Medicine. Dr. Hechtman is the head team physician for Florida International University, and the Florida Panthers Hockey Team. He has served as Medical Director for Dade County High Schools for 20 years. Dr. Hechtman is a contributing author for SOBE Fit, a health and fitness magazine. Also, he served as a physician for the 1996 Olympics and served in Dessert Storm as orthopedic surgeon receiving army commendation medals. He is well recognized for his numerous publications and presentations in particular treatment of elbow injuries in the throwing athlete, as well as ligament injuries to the knee. |

Howard Bush has worked with the Florida Panthers since their inception in 1993 where he attended the first training camp under the direction of Coach Roger Neilson. He is the Chairman of the Department of Cardiology for the Cleveland Clinic Florida. Cleveland Clinic in Florida is a multi-specialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. Cleveland Clinic in Florida has over 150 physicians with expertise in 35 specialties. Dr. Bush has been with the group since 1992 and his clinical interests include invasive and interventional cardiology, risk factor management, and coronary artery disease. Dr. Bush is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Diseases, Internal Medicine, and Interventional Cardiology. He and his wife Eva, D.D.S., have three children Aaron, Leah, and Elana. |

David N. Westerdahl, MD, is a Staff physician for the Department of Orthopedics at Cleveland Clinic Florida. Dr. Westerdahl completed his Doctor of Medicine Degree at Loma Linda University in 2000. After completing his residency in Family Medicine at Florida Hospital in Orlando, he served a Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Cleveland Clinic's main campus in Cleveland, Ohio. With a background in primary care and sports medicine, Dr. Westerdahl manages a wide range of nonoperative orthopedic and sports medicine injuries. He is the Director for Sports Medicine at Florida Atlantic University, and serves as Director Sports Medicine for The USTA Player Development Center in Boca Raton, Florida. His specialty interests include sports injuries, medical orthopedics, exercise related medical disorders, musculoskeletal ultrasound, nutritional supplements and wilderness medicine. Dr. Westerdahl is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. His memberships in various medical organizations and societies include the American College of Sports Medicine, American Academy of Family Practice, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the Florida Academy of Family Practice. He has operated a private dental practice in Coral Springs for more than 20 years, and recently opened up a new office in Boca Raton. A graduate of the N.Y.U. School of Dentistry, Dr. Robins earned his undergraduate degree at Union College in Schenectady, NY, in 1971. After earning his degree in dentistry, he went on to complete a General Practice Dental Residency at Booth Memorial Medical Center in New York. Nicholas Ruggiero, D.C., enters his seventh season as the Panthers’ official chiropractor. He began his education at the University of Miami and completed his B.S. in human biology and doctorate in chiropractic medicine at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles in 1988, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 1998, he was certified in physical therapy by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
