2001 - Roberto Luongo caps an outstanding rookie season with a team-record fifth shutout. His 25 saves ends his year with the second-highest save percentage ever for a rookie (.920). The 3-0 win over the New York Rangers closes Florida's third season at the Office Depot Center. Pavel Bure's 59 goals earn him the Maurice Richard Trophy for the second straight season, making him the first NHL player to accomplish the feat.

1997 - The Panthers clinch fourth place in the Eastern Conference and home ice in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs by defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-2. The Cats finish their fourth season with a record of 35-28-19, good for 89 points.

1996 - The Panthers conclude the 1995-96 season with 92 points (41-31-10) and a fourth-place finish in the Eastern Conference. The team qualifies for the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time and proceeds to defeat the Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins, before losing to the Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Final.
1994 - The Panthers complete the most successful season ever by a first-year NHL team with a 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders at Miami Arena. After the game, the players salute the fans for their tremendous support. Said captain Brian Skrudland, “We didn’t know what to expect when we came down to Florida, and we certainly didn’t expect to have the best fans in the National Hockey League.” |

2002 - The Panthers win the NHL Draft Lottery and will select first overall at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The Cats also sign first-round picks Stephen Weiss and Lukas Krajicek to entry-level contracts.
1998 - The Panthers play their final game at Miami Arena, losing to the Philadelphia Flyers, 7-3. Florida compiles a record of 81-78-29 (.508 winning pct.) in Miami. Afterwards, the players toss merchandise to the fans and original Panthers John Vanbiesbrouck, Scott Mellanby, Gord Murphy, Paul Laus, Bill Lindsay and Rob Niedermayer are honored.
