The First Player In Franchise History
The Panthers select goaltender John Vanbiesbrouck with the first pick of the 1993 NHL Expansion Draft in Quebec City. In all, Florida selects 24 players on June 24, 1993.
 
Let The Game's Begin
The Panthers travel to Chicago Stadium to Chicago Stadium and skate to a 4-4 tie with the Blackhawks in the team's first-ever regular-season game. Right wing Scott Mellanby scores the Panthers' first goal at 12:31 of the opening period. The game is broadcast in Spanish for the first time by Arley Londono and Manolo Alvarez on WCMQ 1210 AM on October 6, 1993.
 
Miami Opener
The Panthers play their inaugural home opener before a sellout crowd of 14,372 at Miami Arena. Florida drops a 2-1 decision to the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 12, 1993.
 
Five Better Than The Habs
In front of a sellout crowd at Miami Arena, the Panthers set a team record with five goals in one period and skate to an 8-3 victory over the Montreal Canadiens. It's their largest winning margin of the season.
 
A Smashing Success Of A First Season
The Panthers complete the most successful season ever by a first-year NHL team with a 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders at Miami Arena. After the game, the players salute the fans for their tremendous support. Said captain Brian Skrudland, "We didn't know what to expect when we came down to Florida, and we certainly didn't expect to have the best fans in the National Hockey League."
