The Formation Of SSE
The Office Depot Center, Florida Panthers and incredible ICE announce the formation of Sunrise Sports and Entertainment (SSE). Sunrise Sports and Entertainment serves as an umbrella for all of its operating entities: the Office Depot Center, the Florida Panthers, incrdible ICE, the Sinatra Theatre, SSE Publications, SSE Strategic Partnerships and SSE Business Development on June 7, 2005. The Office Depot Center becomes the BankAtlantic Center on September 6, 2005.
 
Ending The Lockout
The NHL's Board of Governors ratifies the terms of a six-year Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiated with the NHL Players' Association, ending a 310-day work stoppage on July 22, 2005.
 
No Goals Allowed
For the first time in their history, the Panthers record back-to-back shutouts to open the season. On October 5, the Cats shut out Atlanta 2-0, and on October 7, the Cats shut out Tampa Bay 2-0.
 
Representing Their Countries
Six Cats represented the Panthers at the 2006 Torino Winter Olympic Games with Olli Jokinen (Finland) collecting a Silver Medal and Rostislav Olesz (Czech Republic) collecting a Bronze Medal. Jacques Martin (Canada), Jay Bouwmeester (Canada), Roberto Luongo (Canada) and Jozef Stumpel (Slovakia) also were selected to represent their respective countries at the Olympics from February 17-27, 2005.
 
Lu Gets Another Record
Roberto Luongo sets a franchise record with his 107th victory in a Panther uniform with a 5-4 overtime victory against Ottawa on April 13, 2006, surpassing the mark of 106 set by John Vanbiesbrouck.
