Cats Are 20
The Florida Panthers celebrated their 20th Anniversary season during the 2013-14 campaign. The NHL announced on March 1, 1993 that South Florida would join the NHL in time for the 1993-94 season. Bill Torrey was named Team President and Bob Clarke was named Vice President and General Manager. Roger Neilson served as the first head coach. Florida Panthers Assistant Coach Brian Skrudland (1993-1997), served as the first team captain.

The Month Of December
The Panthers won eight of their 14 games in the month of December. The eight victories tied a franchise high for the month (1995-96 and 2005-06), while the 17 points recorded (8-5-1) in the month also tied a franchise high. The Panthers had recorded 17 points in the month of December on four previous occasions. (MR: 2011-12; 7-5-0-3).

G Roberto Luongo earned first star honors in his return to the Panthers lineup on Mar. 7 vs. Buffalo, stopping all 25 shots in a 2-0 shutout victory. It marked Luongo’s first game in a Panthers uniform since a 2-1 overtime win against Atlanta on April 18, 2006. He currently ranks first among Panthers goaltenders in several all-time categories including career games played (331), single season games played (75), career wins (114), single season wins (35), and career shutouts (27). His 66 career shutouts rank second alltime among active leaders (Marty Brodeur) and he is tied for 14th among NHL all-time goaltender leaders (Patrick Roy).
