LAST TIME OUT: The Florida Panthers take on the Dallas Stars in a home-and-home series, after losing two games to the Tampa Bay Lightning. After falling 5-2 in Tampa Bay on Friday night, Florida dropped a 5-3 decision at home on Saturday. LW David Booth, RW Kris Versteeg, and RW Tomas Kopecky all scored their first goals of the preseason, and LW Tim Kennedy had two assists in the losing effort.
KENNEDY'S RUN: With two assists in Saturday’s contest, LW Tim Kennedy now has three points (1-2-3) in three preseason games.
BOOTH'S START: LW David Booth recorded a goal, an assist, a +2 rating and led all forwards with 18:48 in ice time during Saturday night’s contest.
GRAND ENTRANCES: Three new Panthers made sizeable opening impressions on Saturday night. RW Kris Versteeg had a goal, LW Tomas Fleischmann recorded an assist, and RW Tomas Kopecky had a goal, assist, and +2 rating. Each player was making his Florida Panthers debut.
PRE-SEASON ACTION: Florida began its preseason by hosting Nashville in a doubleheader last Monday (believed to be the first exhibition doubleheader in National Hockey League history). The Panthers split the twin bill with Nashville, dropping the first game 5-3, before winning the night cap 4-3.
UP NEXT: The Panthers will wrap up the preseason schedule with the second of a home-and-home against the Dallas Stars, when they travel to Dallas on Thursday, Sept. 29.
