SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Olli Jokinen rescued the two standings points the Florida Panthers nearly squandered.
Jokinen scored a power-play goal at 3:57 of overtime to give the Panthers a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night.
Jokinen's shot from the center point got past Nikolai Khabibulin with six seconds remaining on Mark Bell's interference penalty. It was Jokinen's 12th goal.
The extra session became necessary after the Panthers gave away a two-goal lead in the third period.
"We took too many penalties (five) in the third. We have to be satisfied we got two points," Jokinen said. "We got a lucky power play at the end. Our power play wasn't so good tonight, so it was good to get a goal there."
Nathan Horton scored twice to help the Panthers send Chicago to its fifth straight road loss. Horton has three goals in two games since returning from a 10-game absence due to a sprained knee.
"I'm in front playing with those two great players (Jokinen and Gary Roberts)," Horton said. "I'm just glad to be a part of it."
The Blackhawks rallied from a 3-1 deficit with third-period goals by Rene Bourque and Mikael Holmqvist. Bourque scored his sixth at 7:10 and Holmqvist added his fourth at 13:02.
Holmqvist tied it when he deflected Brent Seabrook's floater from just inside the blue line with one second remaining on the power play.
Roberto Luongo made 35 saves for the Panthers, who have won three of five after losing 12 straight.
Chicago lost in overtime one night after being beaten in a shootout at Tampa Bay. Khabibulin, who helped the Lightning win the 2004 Stanley Cup, didn't play against his former teammates on Friday.
Khabibulin declined comment, but Blackhawks coach Trent Yawney said the goalie had a tough weekend.
"Coming back to Florida maybe caught up with him a little bit," Yawney said. "He just came from the last place he won a Stanley Cup. I don't care, you're human and you don't just turn off the switch."
Martin Lapointe scored a power-play goal at 6:08 of the third period to cut Florida's lead to 2-1. Just 12 seconds later, Horton poked in a loose puck that was in the crease for his 10th goal, giving the Panthers a two-goal lead.
Horton and Juraj Kolnik scored to give Florida a 2-0 lead after one period.
Horton netted his ninth goal at 13:52. Roberts had the puck behind the net and sent a pass in front where Horton was alone to wrist a shot past Khabibulin.
Kolnik finished a 3-on-2 break at 18:10 with his fifth goal and his first in 18 games. Lukas Krajicek skated in on the left side and sent a pass that missed teammate Martin Gelinas but found Kolnik, who fired the puck from the right circle past Khabibulin.
Chicago failed to score on a 5-on-3 power-play that lasted 1:51. Florida also killed Washington's 1:21 two-man advantage in a 3-2 win on Thursday night.
Khabibulin stopped 22 shots for the Blackhawks, who were 2-for-8 on power plays. Florida was 1-for-6.
"We got a little less aggressive on the forecheck," Roberts said. "They shouldn't have been in the hockey game."
Notes: Blackhawks D Adrian Aucoin was scratched after aggravating a groin injury during Friday night's loss at Tampa Bay. ... Florida C Gregory Campbell had a first-period goal disallowed because he deflected in Jay Bouwmeester's shot with a high stick.
